Good morning!
For all my friends at the Healthy Living Summit, have a great weekend! (I’ll be here. Being extremely jealous).
I was up at 7:15 at at the gym by 7:45.
Yea, this is ridiculously early for me. I prefer nights to early mornings, so I’m a lot more likely to stay up later and get up around 8 – 9 am. I guess that’s one thing about camping – sleeping outside definitely resets your internal clock. Tents don’t exactly shield the light very well, so I’m always awake with the birds, so to speak.
Now, we just have to wait and see how long this lasts. I’m sure eventually, late night tv will start calling to me and I’ll be staying up until 1 – 2 am again.
Workout
Livefit Day 72 – Back/abs Circuit
3 rounds of:
- 20 barbell deadlifts (80 lbs)
- 20 bent over dumbbell row (30 lbs)
- 20 wide grip lat pulldown (20 lbs)
- 20 seated cable rows (27.5 lbs)
- 20 hyperextensions
- 20 knee lifts on Captains Chair
- 20 air bike
Do one round of each circuit, followed by 3 – 5 minutes rest.
- 30 – 40 minutes cardio, staying below your max heart rate (220 minus your age)
For my cardio, I chose to spend some time on the elliptical.
When I do cardio on machines, I can’t do steady state. It drives me absolutely nuts and I find myself staring at the clock counting down the seconds until it’s over – not exactly fun.
So this morning, I decided to invent an anti-boredom elliptical routine to keep me pumped through all 40 minutes, but without any extreme intervals to drive my heart rate up too high (as per Livefit’s instructions).
The result? A fairly simple routine that still makes you feel like you’re getting a good workout – I ended the routine a bit out of breath and sweaty, but not dying. Exactly what I was aiming for.
My first time playing around with Excel/Photoshop/PicMonkey…how’d I do? I never claimed to be creative or tech savvy person in the slightest.
Breakfast
I loved the Fitnessista’s breakfast cookie so much when I tried it, I decided to give her Cookie Dough Cereal a shot.
I’ve got 1/3 cup oats, 1/2 scoop chocolate peanut butter protein powder, 1 tbsp almond butter, cinnamon, vanilla and stevia, with 1 cup unsweetened chocolate almond milk poured on top.
I added a smattering of flaked coconut…and there may have been a few chocolate chips scattered throughout
Because cookie dough needs chocolate chips. It’s like a rule.
Although I think I like the breakfast cookie better, the cereal was definitely tasty! I love cereal but can’t eat it as a meal, or else I’ll be hungry 2.5 minutes later. This is definitely a good alternative when I’m getting a cereal-for-breakfast craving.
Sidenote: cereal should always be consumed with chocolate milk, whether it be almond or otherwise. Amazing.
Have a good day loves!
<– Early riser or night owl?
<– Are you tech-savvy? I really wish I was – but no. Definitely not.

That cereal looks absolutely delicious!!
I am not a morning work-out person at alllllll. Even when I get up early, I prefer not to work out until the afternoon =)

When I first started working out, I was definitely an afternoon exerciser. But over the last few years I’ve transitioned to mornings and now it’s weird for me to work out in the afternoons!

Totally agree with you on the chocolate milk! You should try PB Cheerios and chocolate milk — it’s basically dessert! So so good!

That will definitely have to happen – you can’t get PB cheerios in Canada (that I’ve seen), but my mom is going on a shopping trip with friends over the border in a few weeks. I’ll get her to grab me a box!

I am definitely a night owl but as I get older, I wake up early anyway! It’s annoying!!

Kinda hoping that happens to me over the next few weeks! Otherwise, transitioning to 8:30 am classes is not going to be fun.
