When I woke up this morning, I decided it was a good day for shoulders and core work. I’m still doing my own thing at the gym right now, but I do have an exciting announcement regarding a new program I’m starting next week. Look for it Monday. ![]()
At the gym:
- 20 minutes treadmill intervals
- 3 x 12 dumbbell lateral raise
- 3 x 12 dumbbell front raise
- 3 x 12 seated arnold press
- 3 x 12 reverse crunches on a bench
- 3 x 12 hanging knee raise
- 3 x 25 situps on an exercise ball.
Done and done.
Breakfast
It’s getting chilly outside. You would think that would make me want a warm breakfast, but no. Smoothie it is.
Vanilla greek yogurt, a frozen banana, 1 scoop peanut butter chocolate protein powder, a handful of spinach, and enough unsweetened chocolate almond milk to get it all moving in the blender.
And I definitely took that spoon from the Yogurty’s I went to last weekend. The plan is to take the spoon after each time I go and see how many I end up with within the next year or so. ![]()
Sushi Lunch!
I was eagerly awaiting the end of class today. For the end of our second week, my class and I (all six of us) decided we were going to hit up Sushi Eight for the all you can eat lunch buffet. I have a minor sushi obsession, so clearly I was cool with these plans. I hadn’t been to Sushi Eight yet, but I was definitely impressed. The atmosphere was nice, the food was good and the service was friendly and quick. Also – it was cheap. All you can eat sushi lunch for $12.99? I will most definitely be back.
If you’ve never eaten at a sushi buffet, it’s a little different than regular buffets. You order off the menu, but you can order as many times as you want for one price. But, you have to eat everything they bring you, or else you’re charged extra. It’s always a little bit of a challenge at the end of your meal to try to fit the last remaining bits into your belly to avoid the extra charges.
And, commence sushi porn. (We ordered a bunch of stuff and split it, so don’t think I managed to down 6 rolls to myself)
My half eaten yam tempura. We ordered an appetizer of vegetable tempura, but you know I’m going to go straight to my beloved sweet potato!
A cucumber and avocado roll, a rainbow roll (one of my favourites – a california roll topped with salmon, tuna, red snapper and avocado) and a salmon and avocado roll.
The next one is clearly the money shot.
Pretty sure that is the definition of sushi porn right there.
From left to right, we’ve got a dynamite roll (shrimp tempura with veggies and mayo), a green dragon roll (dynamite roll topped with avocado) and a red dragon roll (dynamite roll topped with salmon)
I definitely had a piece or two of each one – and maybe more of the red dragon. so yummy.
Spicy Crispy Salmon, regular Salmon, imitation crab sushi (can’t remember the official term for it). I helped myself to a piece of the spicy crispy salmon and the regular salmon – pretty sure I got more than enough of my omega-3s today.
Things that escaped the pictures:
- seaweed salad (at least I got some greens in there)
- chicken teriyaki
- yam tempura roll (also amazing)
And when we saw they had a little dessert buffet, that required some checking out. Clearly.
I have to say, Japanese cuisine has some really interesting flavours of ice cream. I got the green tea, which I’ve had before and loved, and I decided to try the red bean. I didn’t expect to like it all that much, but it was actually really good.
However, I was not brave enough to try the taro ice cream. Or the sesame seed. Maybe next time. ![]()
Definitely left feeling pretty damn stuffed. That always happens to me when I go for all-you-can-eat sushi, I definitely eat too much. But it is delicious, so it’s ok. ![]()
Give Me Music Suggestions!
I’m starting to get bored of the minimal selection of music on my MP3 player (I had to start again after losing 1400 songs off my Ipod in the summer). So give me some good music suggestions! Please. ![]()
<— Do you like all you can eat sushi? Do you tend to overdo it like I do?
<— Would you try sesame seed ice cream? It was a dark grey. Sorry, not appetizing to me.

Omg that sushi looks amazing!!!! I always overdo it as well because I want to try so many different kinds. I wish you could do half rolls so that you don’t have to get 6 of each and that way can in turn order more options!! Especially when you go out with people like my fiance who doesn’t even like sushi so you end up eating it all yourself.

That would be nice, wouldn’t it?
I just cannot understand people who don’t like sushi. Craziness. :-p

It was amazing! And the ice cream was a lot better than I thought it would be!

I adore sushi and this look perfect, ones I would totes magotes order! The red dragon with salmon would likely be my favorite. And yes, I always over do it with sushi.. especially when my mom and I order it, we get way too much but end up eating every bit! I love it ha

I was definitely feeling it when I woke up this morning and was rocking a bit of a waddle! :p
That’s one thing I have to work on with my mom, she is not a sushi fan! I definitely always overorder, but it tastes amazing so it’s ok.
