First off:
Seeing so many Thanksgiving recaps this week gave me a massive longing for a big, holiday-ish dinner.
Roast beef (red meat once a week!), mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. Served with a small glass of wine – definitely made my night.
25 Days of Blogging Christmas Challenge
So…I like Christmas.
And blogging.
And challenges.
So when I saw Jenny’s Christmas challenge, I knew I wanted to take part.

25 different topics. 25 days until Christmas. Sounds fun, right?
The challenge:
It’ll make for a fun month.
Day 1
Your favourite Christmas movie:
It’s only the first question and I already have no idea where to start!
My dad and I are both huge into Christmas movies…we have a stash that we get through every December. Definitely fanatics!
I can’t pick one, so I’m going to give you my top three, ok?
1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
I can’t imagine a Christmas without watching this movie. Every time I watch it, I crack up, even though I’ve seen it more times than I can count. The biggest lesson I’ve learned: check Christmas trees for squirrels.
Favourite moment: When the lights on the house finally go up. Now that is one hell of a lights display.
2. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Christmas without this movie is just absolutely unacceptable – every December as a kid, I would look for it every time it was on TV. It’s one of those movies that just reminds me of childhood.
Favourite moment: The Island of Misfit Toys song. I wouldn’t mind a Jack in the Box named Charlie!
3. The Polar Express
Everything about this movie is brilliant. The storyline, the message, the animation, Tom Hanks…if I ever want to remind myself what Christmas should be about, I watch this movie. I remember reading the book as a kid and loving it, so it’s no surprise I’m obsessed with the movie as well:
Favourite moment: When the train is going over the mountains at crazy speeds – it actually makes my stomach jump.
Note: I did not mention “Elf.” I don’t think it’s a bad movie, but I REALLY don’t get why everyone’s obsessed with it!

Ooooo! I’m so excited to see the 25 days of blogging pan out! I would love to do that, but as someone whose blog just reached its 2-week birthday yesterday, I still have a lot of groundwork to lay, haha. But I’ll be reading you! (Obviously, BWS Groupie right here)
December 1, 2012 at 8:34 am
lmao Groupie? I love it/you! <3
And yay two weeks! I'm glad you decided to start blogging, I already adore it!

great recaps! I am not a big holiday person, yes I like it but not really the build up. good luck on the blogging challenge!
December 1, 2012 at 10:47 am
That’s fair! Eric’s the same way actually, so I have to be the Christmas person around here.
December 1, 2012 at 10:07 am
Ummm, I’m pretty sure that I’m going to jump on this blogging challenge haha…I love the holidays and this seems like a lot of fun! My favorite Christmas movie is a tie between Elf and The Polar Express (love it for the same reasons you do) and my favorite moment from November was last weekend with my boy…wonderful time together and in helping me let go of my usual structured life
December 1, 2012 at 10:48 am
Aww, I’m glad you had a great time with him!
Doooo the challenge! It’ll be a good time.

Christmas movies are the best! My top 3 are:
-Santa Clause with Tim Allen
-Home Alone 1 & 2
-Jingle All the Way
Definitely time to rewatch them!
December 1, 2012 at 10:52 am
Hehe I completely forgot about Home Alone!! I love the second one.
December 1, 2012 at 11:19 am
Oh Rudolph… I remember always looking forward to that one when I was growing up, and you can bet that I’ll be watching it again this year. That, Home Alone, and Charlie Brown’s Christmas all remind me of being a little kid. Oh! And Muppet’s Christmas Carol
Seriously though… I think it’s kind of impossible to pick just -one- favorite movie… need them all to make it really feel like Christmas!
December 1, 2012 at 4:18 pm
My thoughts exactly! There’s too many to pick just one favourite.
December 1, 2012 at 6:39 pm
Jeepers, girl!! You had a TOTALLY fabulous month!! Seriously. If ever someone needed a month out of someone’s life to say “you used to have an ED, but this is the kind of complete and normal and fun and fulfilling life you could have” this would be it. You’re a rockstar. This is just fabulous!
I’ve never seen National Lampoon’s — going to have to this year, I think! I’ve just heard too many fabulous things about it!!
December 1, 2012 at 9:22 pm
The fact that you just called me a rockstar just absolutely made my day <3
and you definitely should! Fantastic movie!
December 1, 2012 at 7:46 pm
Red meat once a week for me too
December 1, 2012 at 9:22 pm
It’s a good habit to get into
December 1, 2012 at 9:36 pm
Thanks so much for sharing this challenge with us – it’s exactly what I needed to help me get back into the groove of blogging after being away for 2 weeks. I love your movies choices btw..Polar Express is my favorite – I love the mountain scene too-gives me butterfiles in my tummy everytime-like being on an actual rollercoaster lol. I also really love the part when Santa gives the first gift of Christmas – I would love for that to happen to me
I’ve never seen Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer (ikr) but my little Taste Tester has and he really likes it. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation is another favorite in our home. I love the scene when the family is searching for the perfect tree. ..and when they bring it home and finally get it in the house lmao. Funny, the only 2 Christmas movies I own are The Polar Express and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
I have to agree with you about Elf btw. The movie is o.k. with alot of funny parts but I have sooo many other favorites first. #don’tbelievethehype lol
December 1, 2012 at 9:42 pm
Hehe I’m glad someone agrees with me on the Elf thing! And yes, you should absolutely see Rudolph! :-p
December 2, 2012 at 7:06 am
Your roast beef and mashed potatoes dinner looks SO good! I really need to start eating red meat once a week too. You’ve inspired me to challenge myself to do that.
My favourite Christmas movies are The Santa Clause (I wanted to visit the north pole so badly after I first saw this movie as a kid haha) and Love Actually!
One of my favourite moments from this month was going out for sushi with two of my friends and having the best 2 hour long girl talk with them!
December 2, 2012 at 7:52 am
Hehe that’s so cute about The Santa Clause! It is a good movie, I’ll definitely be watching that one this year!
Sushi and girl talk…pretty perfect evening!
