Nothing like a quick, marvelous weekend recap!

MIMM

Friday:

Eric joined a local band as a bassist pretty recently, and Friday night he played their first local show with them. So of course, I went to see him play live for the first time at a local dive bar.

Band(forgive the low-quality android pic). They did really well! And I get major girlfriend points – they didn’t go on until 12:45, so I wasn’t in bed until about 2:15.

Saturday:

When Ang told me that she and Cassie were heading to Toronto for the weekend to visit Davida, naturally, I decided to invite myself along for a meetup.

CN Tower So I made the drive up Saturday afternoon for a late lunch and to hang out for a bit. I met the three of them at Rock Lobster‘s Queen St. location.

Group LunchThey were only serving their brunch menu, so I went with their Lobster Eggs Benny – english muffin halves with peameal bacon, poached eggs, lobster, and Bearnaise sauce.

brunch The service wasn’t fantastic (our food took a loooong time to come out) but the food was pretty good, so I’ll take it. Obviously, the company was the best part! I love the conversations that happen at blogger meetups

Afterwards, we wandered up Queen St. and ended up walking through Trinity Bellwoods Park.

Cassie Ang Sam I had to head home shortly afterwards, but it was a great afternoon – I always love having the chance to hang out with Davida, and being able to meet Ang and Cassie in person was awesome. Seriously a great group of girls, and totally worth the sunburn and the parking ticket I acquired (oops).

On my way up to Toronto I dropped Atticus off at my parents, so I headed back there for dinner. On the way back, I had a slight heart attack moment – the gas light in the car came on when I was driving down a desolate part of the highway with 2% battery in my phone (so if I ran out of gas I wasn’t going to be calling anyone). Fortunately, I managed to find a gas station before I find myself stranded. Note to self: do not get on the 403 with less than 1/4 tank, because it can take a little while to come across a rest stop.

AtticusMy parents live out in the country, so of course, the pug is always happy to be there and run around outside.

Steak with sauteed mushrooms and onions, a salad, and sweet potato fries with ketchup.

Steak Dinner I didn’t quite make it through the steak that was the size of my face, but a delicious dinner for sure.

I hung around there for a bit, and then eventually made it home where the pug and I both crashed for a good nine hours – it was amazing.

Sunday:

a lot of errand running and catching up on things around the house.

Look, I bought a maxi skirt!

Maxi Skirt | TargetCourtesy of Target (P.S. remember when my hair was crazy red? That faded quickly…to be redone soon though).

AtticusCan you tell how tired he looks? That’s from running around all day Saturday…

Sundays are not complete with some downtime:

RelaxingAnd enjoying some nice weather:

Sunshine

It’s supposed to rain all week, so I made sure to get outside and enjoy the sunshine yesterday…with the pug, of course.

Somewhat all over the place, but definitely all the elements of a fantastic weekend: a bit of travel, friends, good food, shopping, and relaxation. What else could you want?

Have a good one!

<— What did you do over the weekend?

  1. Ahh stoked you got the meet the others- you should have made ange dance to juicy j. Can we just take a moment to appreciate that epic brunch meal you ordered? I’m going there when I visit Toronto….hello lobster and eggs!

  2. Your brunch looks fantastic! And of course getting to hang out with other bloggers is always a fun time. The last blogger meet up I went to was our meet up at Sadie’s! The last time I went out for brunch was this weekend when JZ and I went to the Kitchener farmers market. I got a crepe with strawberries, banana, and maple syrup – it was delicious!

LOVE the maxi skirt. I’m a big fan of them too. So perfect for when I’m too lazy to shave my legs haha.

  4. Sounds like a lovely weekend! The blogger meet-up sounds particularly exciting! It so nice that you all leave close enough to visit with each other sometimes! And, brunch looks fantastic!

    • Ang and Cassie are in Pittsburgh, so I was so excited when they said they were coming up to Toronto. And thanks, they have a ton of nice ones right now!

  5. Aw, Davida. Love her. You should’ve kept driving straight to my house instead of your parents. WHERE ARE YOUR PRIORITIES

Ah! So glad you found a maxi skirt. Aren’t they awesome? So comfy.

  6. Everything about your Saturday sounds perfect- it’s always such a treat to meet up with bloggers, even more so when delicious food is involved. It’s been a while since I went out for brunch but the last one I had was pretty epic: a savory crepe with a runny egg, olive tapenade, zucchini & mushrooms….mmm! I’m loving that maxi skirt on you, Sam…I’m thinking you need to invest in some maxi dresses too, girl!

  8. SOOOOOO jealous of that blogger meetup! You guys had a great day for it judging by the weather in the pictures! Hanging out with other bloggers is pretty much my favorite. Your weekend does sound pretty awesome and pretty busy! I’m pretty sure I haven’t stayed up past midnight in months. I don’t know how you made it until after 2! Girlfriend of the year for sure

    • Definitely a perfect day! And haha we went for a walk around midnight and it was super-windy out, so i’m just going to blame the wind for waking me up a little

  9. Such a pretty maxi skirt Sam, it looks lovely on you. Especially with the Atti accessory haha!

  11. SO FUN meeting up on Saturday!! The weather was perfect but the company was better!! So glad you didn’t get stranded… that’s SUCH a fear of mine and I always go places without a full tank, such a bad habit.
Cassie recently posted..Race Recap: Pittsburgh Half-MarathonMy Profile

    • Definitely a habit of mine too – hopefully that scared me enough to actually get gas when I need it from now on It was awesome getting the chance to meet you in person!

  12. SO jealous that you got to meet those awesome ladies this weekend! Ugh! Why do I have to live in a place where absolutely no bloggers want to call home? I need to move out east, stat, except that I would miss the Rockies way too much… at least there’s only like THREE WEEKS left until Blend What would I have to bribe you with to bring Atti along?
Amanda @ .running with spoons. recently posted... link love 5/11 .My Profile

    • So then you just have to come visit Annnd it’s not me you’d have to bribe, but everyone else we’re sharing a suite with!

  13. You Canadians are so good about blogger meet ups!
I need to try and organize something soon.

Looks like you had a great weekend and I think you deserve triple points for staying up until 2:15a. I would have been whining the whole time, haha!

p.s. I love your maxi skirt!

  14. Aww fun times hanging out with that crew!! Looks like you picked a delicious place for brunch too! I love that maxi skirt! I need to invest in a bunch of cheap ones from H&M to run around with the boys in this summer. Already getting too hot for pants!

  15. I love Target’s clothing! Although I haven’t the courage to wear a maxi myself. I just feel like I’m wearing a tent, and then I start thinking of Kirstie Alley and how that’s all she ever wears . . . I know, I’m wrong, they’re in fashion right now. And it looks great on you!
Brunch is such a lovely meal! I don’t go out for breakfast much (my mom sleeps late, my dad likes his morning routine at home), but whenever I do it’s such a treat.

    • I didn’t think I could pull one off but I was happy with what I found – it’s worth experimenting with! and I know what you mean, last weekend Eric and I went out for brunch together for the first time since October – we’re never awake and ready to eat at the same time in the morning!

  16. OMG those two meals look right up my alley! Lobster eggs benny? Yes, please!

I had to scroll back up and take another glance at Friday’s bedtime..wow.
