Hi there! Happy Friday!

Five Things Friday

Of course, that means Five Things Friday. Let’s jump right into it, shall we?

5 Things I’ve Eaten Recently:

1. A Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup topped with peanut butter chocolate ice cream.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream

Yes, that happened. Basically, when I have wine I’m a culinary genius.

2. Oats in a Justin’s Honey Almond Butter jar.

Justin's Honey Almond

I’m always sad when I finish one of these jars…at least the end result is tasty?

3. Quest bar in Chocolate Peanut Butter.

It was decent. Admittedly, I’m not as big of a fan of the chocolate-based Quest bar flavours…I need more Cookies and Cream up in here.

4. Banana Protein oats with peanut butter and jam.

Banana Protein Oats

Aka: my breakfast almost every day this week.

5. Pulled pork tacos from Qdoba.

Tacos

I’m cool with Mexican multiple times in a week.

Five Things Happening This Week:

I think that the original version is ok, but I’m absolutely obsessed with this cover:

SUCH a gorgeous voice. And her makeup! Someone needs to teach me how to wear dark lipstick like that.

2. I CANNOT STOP LAUGHING.

“It tastes so much like drunk food that it’s making me a little bit drunk right now” <– best description of poutine ever.

Also: JOS LOUIS.

3. If the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland was orange and white, this is what he would look like:

Cheshire Cat

Also missing the creepy smile…although she is good at disappearing for a while in the random cracks in my parents house.

4. I’ve picked up a new book recently:

May Cause Miracles

I’m on like, day 3 and I’m already noticing a change in my mindset a little bit. I can see why people go nuts over this book!!

5. I got my last tattoo after I finished up my BA degree. So naturally, I have an appointment for a new one next week. It’s been three years since I got a new one, which is much, much too long. Cannot wait!

5 Things I’ve Pinned Lately:

1. I’m not a huge fan of Oprah, but I do love this:

Courage

2. For those of us who are photography-challenged, particularly when it comes to manual mode:

Manual Mode

3. Good advice, yes?

Squats, Vegetables and Boys

4. This isn’t just me, right?

Commas

5. Yup.

Stars

That’s all for me today – have a fabulous weekend!

<— Most epic food combination you’ve had lately?

<— Do you wear dark lipstick? Will you teach me how?

<— Do you have any tattoos?

  1. Have to agree with you on the Quest front….
Cookie dough and white chocolate raspberry take the cake (mainly because of the [potential] chunks in it).

I think it’s more like one drink and that language is commonplace.

  2. OMG I can’t look past the first picture – genius idea!

  3. I start to curse at every break in a sentence (and as an adjctive) when I’m angry, not so much after drinking (mind you, I’m virtually tea total, so I wouldn’t know). I do however find it amusing to throw food at my companions after about half a glass, y’know, peas, cheese, croutons. Perhaps that’s why I don’t drink

  4. Not a huge fan of chocolate quest bars either… they’re too weird tasting. Definitely love the cookies & cream bar though.

I want to learn how to wear red lipstick too! I’ve worn it a couple times, but I always get so nervous that its going to smear all over my face so I wipe it off.

Yesterday I had a dessert pizza that had thinly sliced apple & pear, candied pecans and cinnamon. YUM

    • I don’t think I’ve ever tried…except maybe for that time in grade 2 when I was a doll in a Christmas play. But maybe that doesn’t count. And I want dessert pizza!

  5. Hmmm I want to check out that book now, I have never heard of it! I can’t do the chocolate Quest bars either unless its the Double Chocolate Chunk…oh baby that ones good. The snack video made me laugh..I’m an American who dates a Canadian so I totally get it lol

  7. I need to learn how to wear dark lipstick as well… I’m terrible with hair and makeup!
Eggs and salsa are my favorite combo at the moment

  8. greatest video I’ve ever seen. I think Poutine tastes better when I’m drunk. Beer taste goggles I suppose

  9. Food: Almond butter and chocolate… But you already knew that. I have a few tattoos and CONSTANTLY want more. I can’t wait to see yours!

  10. So much chocolate peanut butter goodness in this post…’scuse me while I ruin my iPad with drool. Although I do agree about the chocolate-based quest bars!! I am not the biggest fan of the Double Choc Chunk OR the PB Choc one that you had mentioned…I don’t know, I guess I’m too into Reese’s haha! Sooo I’m gonna guess my new fave food combo will be that Reese’s topped with ice cream which needs to be in my mouth ASAP.

Anywho, happy Friday! I always love the quotes you share. So much. Not an Oprah fan myself (well, I just don’t typically watch her show,) but I do enjoy her words on occasion and she’s definitely an insightful woman, that’s for sure.

Can’t wait to see your tatt! I have a daisy on my lower right hip. Anddd another somewhere totally inapprops. Dammit, college years…

    xo
    Meg

    • haha you seriously need to try it – it’s amazing! And I definitely agree about Oprah – I don’t think I’ve ever watched her show before in my life, but she seems to know what she’s talking about sometimes!

Lmao I’m sure there’s a good story with that second tattoo! :-p

  11. Okay, I NEED that PB cup topped with ice cream in my life like asap! That’s seriously epic!

  12. Hahaha ok where to begin….I don’t need to the drinks for f*ck to come out. One of my favs when I’m not around children who are awake wine turns you into an absolute genius and you should probably have some more often for creative masterpieces like that to happen regularly and between you and Sarah getting tattoos you’re making me want to get another badly!

  13. I cannot wait to see what you get as your new tattoo! So exciting!
I would love one but I am so scared of needles – seriously, I don’t even have my ears pierced!!!

    Have a fab weekend Sam!

  14. I’m so glad I’m not the only one with a major potty mouth. I actually don’t have to be drinking to drop that me f bombs though. Get me on the right topic and it just kind of happens.

And the Reeses with pb ice cream? holy amazingness. You should drink wine more often.

  15. When you have free health care, you can eat whatever you want Ahhh I love being Canadian. And I -love- wearing dark lipstick, but I admit that I hardly ever bust it out because then I feel like everyone is staring at me. I mean, I live in Edmonton… fashion sense here is basically non existent, and I feel way out of place any time I try to dress up a little nicer

  16. I lived in Toronto for 3 years when I was in junior high and I loved it! That video was hilarious.

I can’t do dark lipstick. So I stick with winged eyeliner and also – recent revelation – defined eyebrows. Filling my light ones in really helped “frame” my face better.

I’ve always wanted a tattoo. My dad used to tell us my mom had a tattoo (she totally didn’t – she’s the most Mom-ish Mom – it’s unfathomable) – and we believed him, of course. We’d say, “Where? Where is it?” And he’d say, “Not anywhere you can see.”

It was brilliant because my mother wasn’t going to prove him wrong by disrobing.

  17. Ooh that SS cover is amazing, and perfect because I am now officially sick of the original thanks to the radio overplaying it.

  19. How many tattoos do you have? I have one, and have been itching to get another one since my first like 5 years ago haha. I’ve been mulling it over for quite some time but since it’s going on my body forever, I want to be sure!

  20. The most epic food combo? Lately, it’s been banana nice cream with pumpkin, sunflower, chia and hemp seeds. Tonight, though, I had coconut flour pancakes with Greek coconut yogurt that were the bomb! So good!
Casey @ Casey the College Celiac recently posted..Happy: Houston HighlightsMy Profile

  21. Gosh that is now pure genius; way to dress up a Reeses cup!
I never thought I’d be declaring a savoury combination as my most epic, but: olive oil roasted potatoes dipped in roast onion cream cheese..mmhm <3 .
I love a dark lip when in the mood – usually a glamourous evening..I prefer to keep the rest of the make up natural and let that bold lip work it .
    Ms.J recently posted..Thinking Out Loud #27My Profile

    • I think that’s why I’ve never tried it – I love my black eyeliner and with dark lipstick it might be a little much!

  22. That f**k thing was so true. That’s how you know I’m drunk. I actually try not to use it a whole lot, so when I do, it makes more of an impact… unless I’m with my girlfriends, then I talk like a sailor lol.

  23. Oooo I hope you do get a tattoo! I’ve been considering getting one for a while now, but I know it is a big decision. May I ask, though I realize this may be too personal (so feel free to ignore!), but do you have any tattoos that are in memoriam of a loved one? That is what I am considering, and I was wondering what your thoughts were on the matter. Thanks!
Julia @ LordStillLovesMe recently posted..25 Things You May Not Know About MeMy Profile

    • No worries at all – I love talking about my tattoos I have one that’s a kinda-sorta in remembrance – I was close to my grandmother as a kid, and she passed away when I was 6. That side of the family is all Scottish – going back down the lineage on my grandmother’s side, my family was of the Fergusson Clan, which has a bee on a thistle as it’s crest. So, I have a bee on my left hip So that one has a lot to do with my grandma, my heritage, and just my family in general!

  24. I want more tattoos SO BAD. It MIGHT happen soon. I really want something small, simple and meaningful, and I think I can make that happen. Or excelsior (I’m obsessed with Silver Linings Playbook!). LOVE that song, and this cover has just been added to my music playlist on YouTube + the book is on my wish list now! This post seriously just changed my life! =)
