Hello there! American friends, how was your Thanksgiving? Hopefully full of great friends and great company!

And the rest of us can just be happy that it’s Friday, right?

Of course, the Friday lists.

5 Things I’ve Eaten Lately:

1. Ricotta and broccoli stuffed chicken with roasted potatoes and broccoli.

Chicken and Veggies Not the most impressive looking picture, but I promise it’s awesome.

2.  A quarter of a roasted kabocha with cinnamon with a leftover bean loaf

Squash Beans This is how leftovers for lunch should be.

3. Tandoori chicken and rice plus a spinach salad (dressing added post-picture)

Leftovers Eric went out for Indian food with a friend, and brought me home the leftovers. I knew I liked that guy…Wink

4. Steak, a baked potato with a bit of butter and sour cream, and a spinach salad.

Steak and Veggies It may not have been a turkey dinner, but it did the trick last night.

4. Cookies & Cream ice cream.

Cookies & Cream Eating way too much of this stuff…but wow, it is wonderful.

5 Things Happening This Week:

1. We’ve been doing some house/pet sitting on and off for Eric’s mom lately, and I have to say…three animals in one household is a lot. It makes me feel a tad sorry for my parents when my brother and I were kids, because we would easily have 5 household pets at a time. What can I say…we were animal people.

Pets 2. Speaking of animals, the pug is home and resting from his surgery…hopefully his last one for the rest of his little life! We’ll have to go back in 2 weeks to remove the button holding his eyelid up (Google ‘third eyelid flap surgery if you really want the details on it) but other than that, hopefully we won’t have to go the vets office for a loooong time.

Cone Pug 3. I bought a really random Groupon the other day…for acupuncture. I’ve always been curious about it, and one day last week I noticed that the groupon of the day was for an acupuncturist that specializes in a certain issue I’ve been having (to be discussed at a later date). I haven’t made the appointment yet, but I’m really curious to see what it’s like!

4. I’ve been craving froyo ever since last weekend, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’m thinking that a weekend trip to Chil is in order.

Chil Froyo From the last time I was there…looking forward to recreating that bowl.

5. While we don’t have ‘real’ Black Friday shopping around here, some Canadian businesses are trying to jump on the Black Friday bandwagon. So, I’m going to head to the mall today and hopefully put a big dent my Christmas shopping. Fingers crossed it won’t be complete insanity!

5 Christmas/Winter Themed Pins Catching My Eye This Week:

1. Gingerbread Roll Cake from Roxana’s Home Baking.

Gingerbread Roll Cake Seriously considering making this for Christmas day dessert. Gingerbread is just so Christmas appropriate!

2. Peppermint Oreo Cookie Balls from Four Seasons Recipes.

Peppermint Oreo Wouldn’t these make an adorable homemade Christmas gift!

3. Creme de Menthe Bars from Averie Cooks.

Creme de Menthe We can all agree that chocolate and mint is a fabulous combination, right?

4. Chocolate Chip Candy Cane Fudge from Inside BruCrew Life.

Candy Cane Fudge

I’ve never made homemade fudge before, but I might have to change that with this recipe…candy cane and chocolate chips? Sign me up.

5. Brownie Snowballs from Back for Seconds.

Brownie Snowballs These just look adorable…and delicious.

Have a lovely weekend!

  4. Ahh that gingerbread roll cake looks amazing! Definitely bookmarking that for christmas eve! Our thanksgiving was quiet and good haha. I ran ten miles and then took two naps during the day joe worked his butt off in the kitchen and made us quite a feast complete with turkey, brioche bread pudding, brussel sprouts, homemade rolls, homemade cranberry sauce, and homemade honey butter. I made a pumpkin roll for us for dessert so we were thoroughly stuffed when we were done good luck today! I stopped to get joe a new pair of running shoes for christmas on my way to the gym but i’m not going near any other stores! Black friday shopping stresses me out

  5. That stuffed chicken looks deeelicious! You’ll seriously love acupuncture Sam! It’s so relaxing and really made me feel so much less stressed. It’s pretty amazing what it can do for you.

No Christmas baking yet. My mom and I have plans to get together in a few weeks and make a bunch of cookies and I can’t wait!

    • you’ll be the first to know when I have my appointment! And I’m going to get together with my aunt and two of my cousins in a few weeks – it should be a fun time!

  6. Sending tonnes of hugs to the little pug! He’ll be better before you know it

Acupuncture. Gah! I would actually -love- to try it, but given my terrible fear of needles, I don’t think it’s actually ever going to happen. The stress that I’d get from the actual procedure would probably negate any benefit that the actual acupuncture offered.

As for the weekend… ALL THINGS CHRISTMAS! It’s tradition to bust out the Christmas decorations on December 1st, so me and J will be decorating on Sunday, going to see Frozen, and doing some Christmas baking. Can.not.WAIT!

Yesterday was just a small Thanksgiving at my grandmother's house…a lot of canned foods that I really wasn't interested in, plus I had just woken up after my night shift and only slept 3 hours, but I DID get some of her famous cornbread dressing and my uncle's turkey was perfect! My sister and I ended the night with peanut butter mug cakes…her's topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate chips and mine with banana and dark chocolate M&M's! <- Omg, those are good!

I’m interested to hear how the acupuncture goes! hopefully your groupons in Canada are better than ours here (a.k.a. go bankrupt before you can use them…fail). Christmas baking….already? Maybe 2 days beforehand..although I have a brunch tomorrow I need to make something for. Maybe brownies…yes brownies. PB Choc ones.

Oh and regarding my friends contact lenses with the dollar bills- He wore them to a costume party and never again- people hated posing with him in photos lol!

Holiday baking already? Heck no! Ain’t got no time for that. But the week of Christmas I’ll be baking like a madwoman!

So my friend from London is coming to visit today and I’m tempted to ask her to bring me some Chil. I wonder if it would last the car ride if it was over ice in a cooler… haha.

  19. I hope you got the best of both worlds with the less-crazy Canadian Black Friday…great deals, no crowds. Man that’d have been nice! On Friday I passed up some amazing deals just because the lines to purchase were far too long!
So glad Atti is done with his surgery and fingers crossed it was the last one!
Um, your meals always look so great to me. Steak + baked potato? Bean loaf + squash? STUFFED CHICKEN? Gurrrrrl I feel you.
Caitlin recently posted..Thanksgiving Eve With Nana C!My Profile

    • I feel like our deals weren’t as good though! I mean, they were decent but they weren’t anything too crazy. And I do like to think that I eat well!
