Annd it’s the last Friday before Christmas. With only five days left to go, I hope everyone’s feeling prepared!

But, it is Friday, which clearly means Five Things Friday.

Five Things Friday

Thanks for hosting, Clare!

5 Things I’ve Eaten Lately:

1.  Chicken wrap with onion rings.

Wrap and Onion Rings We had a snowstorm last Saturday, so rather than attempting to drive anywhere for dinner Eric and I just walked down to Fatty Patty’s (worst name ever), a bar and grill at the end of the street. A chicken wrap and onion rings for me – the wrap wasn’t particularly impressive, but the onion rings made me happy.

2. Beef stew.

Beef stew Sunday night’s ultra-comforting meal. After being buried in so much snow all weekend, this was the perfect choice!

3. Tomato soup, toast, and turkey pepperoni sticks.

Soup Delightfully random lunch last Friday. The soup was a canned variety and it was only ok – I’m excited to make some homemade soup tonight though.

4. Sushi takeout.

Sushi I knew I’d be getting into London after school around 7 pm yesterday, so I told Eric I’d swing by the Asian grocery store and grab some sushi to bring home. Best idea ever – their sushi is super cheap and fresh, and even cheaper at the end of the day when they’re trying to get rid of it. My sushi + seaweed salad came to about $8! Definitely satisfied the sushi craving….I feel like this may become a more common occurrence.

5.  Spinach salad with dressing and an egg, rice cake with cream cheese, jam and another egg, roasted squash with Justin’s Maple Almond Butter.

Random Lunch I swear, my lunches are getting more random by the day.

5 Things Happening This Week:

1. The cookie baking I said I was going to do on Monday? The results:

Cookies This is maybe just over half of everything we made….no wonder I spent most of Monday night/Tuesday in a sugar coma Wink

For my contributions, I made Averie’s Creme de Menthe Bars (bottom left), Sally’s Candy Cane Kiss Cookies (middle-right), Jo’s Nutella Fudge with Pistachios and Sea Salt (bottom right), and  Kristy’s Christmas Snickerdoodles (top right). Annnnd I recommend all of them. So many delicious cookies…

2. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good weather this weekend, because I’m heading up to Burlington tomorrow for a blogger meetup! The weather forecast keeps going back and forth between rain and freezing rain, and I’d definitely take the former over the latter.

3. I’ve mentioned before that I’m terrified of box jumps. Well…I’m over that fear. We had to do them in my circuit class last week, and I was comfortably doing the knee-high jumps. It’s a good start!

4. The hot chocolate and creme de menthe combo I was doing last week? Still going strong. Seriously, try it.

Hot Chocolate And the marshmallows are a good way to go to.

5. Last week, I mentioned that I won one of the Swanson’s Vitamins Giveaways. Well, my order got here last night!

Swansons Vitamins Win

I ended up ordering:

  • Barbara’s Bakery Chocolate Chip Snackanimals
  • Ghirardelli cocoa powder
  • Justin’s Maple Almond Butter
  • Maca powder
  • a multivitamin
  • argon oil (times two – they were buy one get one free)
  • biotin
  • Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein powder – Chocolate Malt flavour
  • Artisana Cacao Bliss

So.excited. for everything. Most of it is new-to-me, so hopefully I find some new regulars!

Annnd that’s all I got for today. You know how every student is excited that they’re done school? Well, that’s awesome for you guys, but as a TA, that means that my marking (with a super short deadline) is just beginning. So, I’m back to my pile of final exams waiting to be marked.

  3. The weather better cooperate tomorrow! It already ruined my plans for tonight, so I really hope it doesn’t ruin tomorrow’s plans too!

I can’t believe you got all that sushi AND seaweed salad for $8! Dang, what a good deal. The last takeout meal I got was sushi too.

I’ve been doing some holiday baking too (but not all at once like that – holy smokes!). I’ve made 2 types of molasses cookies, Martha Stewart’s outrageous chocolate cookies, magical coconut bars from Oh She Glows, and homemade soy nut butter “Reese’s Pieces”!

  10. I have had onions rings in the longest time. That pic of yours is making me have a craving now. I think I need to go get some!

Love your Swanson picks. What do you like to use the Maca Powder for? I’ve always wanted to try it, but never have.

The best thing I ate this week was lobster ravioli at our office Christmas party. Boy, were they delicious!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat recently posted..A Holiday BreakMy Profile

    • mmm, lobster ravioli does sound amazing! And maca is supposed to help with energy (good for those of us who don’t drink coffee) and apparently it can help regulate hormones. I got the powder form, so I’ve just been tossing a scoop in with my oatmeal in the mornings!

  11. I love those random meals where you mix veggies and almond butter and eggs- they always turn out delicious!

I have been interested seeing all these Swanson items- I hope you find new things that you keep on rotation! That cocoa powder is seriously the best!

  13. Damn girl all of your food looks amazing! I now have a huge craving for greek food thanks to Chelsea’s post, onion rings, beef stew with biscuits, grilled cheese, and sushi. That’s an interesting craving to try and fill I have made salted truffle cookies, hot cocoa cookies, gingerbread, and snickerdoodles with more being baked this weekend! Not as much as you haha but I’m definitely ready for a break from baking! Have a great weekend hun! Fingers crossed the weather holds for you guys!

  14. Marshmallows are ALWAYS a good idea. Always. And that is a lot of cookies! My mom and I are making about 7 dozen sugar cookies this weekend. To be consumed before christmas and then we’ll probably make more My favorite part of christmas is most definitely the sugar coma. I hope you’re able to get to the meet up!

  15. I WISH that I liked onion rings. Literally every time I see them, I wish I liked them. They LOOK like they should taste like a crunchy, seasoned curly fry (which I love), but then i bite into them and they don’t. It’s like fried fish. It looks like it should taste like chicken, but it doesn’t.

Now that I’ve gotten all that out of the way. Your Christmas cookie making is nothing short of amazing!! I have never and could never bake that much all at once!
Amy @ Long Drive Journey recently posted..Staying Healthy During the HolidaysMy Profile

    • While I would choose onion rings over fries anytime, I have to admit that I would pause to consider seasoned curly fries…those are good!

  16. Whole table of cookies? Looks as dream… I as obsessed add cookies recipes in Pinterest, but the truth that I didn’t bake anything from this huge list. And I would like, seriously.
Oatmeal was my best food, definitely. I found the ideal recipe for myself – milk, cocoa, a stevia and cinnamon. Paradise in my mouth!

  18. So much good comfort food. I like box jumps though we had to try max box jumps and I bruised myself so badly.

  19. Completely random but is Burlington famous for coats by any chance? There’s this shop here called ‘Burlington Coat Factory’ and everyone goes there to buy coats when they go somewhere freezing.

I must say if it weren’t for the sushi, onion rings and randomness of your lunches, I would be cranky that coconut flour was not purchased as part of that order…I hope its on your Xmas wish list.. or boxing day find list. :p I’ve tried that whey powder- let’s say they pulled ‘Malt’ out of their..derrier.

  22. Onion rings! I had some of the best ones of my life last night- truly alone of the great foods And thank you so much for the links to Those amazing sweet treats!!! I am making the creme de menthe bars and pistachio Nutella sea salt fudge ASAP! I have already made white chocolate, caramel shortbread slice and rich chocolate cake with a fluffy coonut icing- and a hazelnut buche de Noel filled with orange zest spiked cream cheese filling (it’s the first Christmas my daughter is old enough to “help” bake – she just turned 3 and we have been having a ball!) Happy Holidays Sam!

  23. When I first read turkey pepperoni, I thought it said turkey peppermint sticks and I was like… well that’s… interesting lol. I don’t imagine it would be a tasty combo. And heck YES to holiday baking! Although I’ve been doing so much of it lately, that I’m seriously getting a little sweeted out… I actually found myself craving chicken and broccoli the other day, which doesn’t usually happen!

    • it’s supposed to be really good for hair and skin, so I’ve been mixing a few drops in with my moisturizer at night and using a few drops on my hair after I shower. I’ve been rubbing a little bit into my nails as well!
